What is QiGong ?

QiGong : Qi ~ Energy, Gong ~ Work

QiGong is a Mind Body practice involving exercises that align breath with meditative movement, stretches, and standing meditation.

This form of exercise is gentle enough for anyone to practice and can be intense enough for seasoned athletes.
Qi (Energy, The different elements that make us human ) permeates everything, space, air, water, fire, living creatures and even inanimate objects throughout the universe. (Ancient monks knew about quantum theory ūüėČ )

Gong (Discipline or Work)

With perpetual practice a QiGong practitioner gains the skill to harness Qi from the surrounding universe and convert it into Jing.

Jing like Qi is also energy, this type of energy fuels our spirit and is considered life force or vitality.

The hard truth about the work(the gong) is that it is tedious, and involved, and needs to be practiced perpetually to have the most benefit.

In today’s society that is full of distractions, it is harder than ever for us to be still, and focus mentally or physically.

The Gong is the hard work we have to put in, every day to better ourselves to be the best human we can be, mentally and physically, striving for the best we can do every day!

QiGong is split into two separate disciplines,¬†or l practices –¬†internal and external

NeiDan Gong is the internal aspect, soft practice focusing primarily on meditative movement, standing meditation combining poses and aligning movement with breath, sitting meditation, breath work exercise.
Internal QiGong is a tool for promoting postural awareness, control of breath, focus, calmness, concentration, mental dexterity and stamina, and is necessary to practice to begin more vigorous practice.

We gain stillness from the inside with this practice which is one of the pillars found in all martial arts.

Internal QiGong activates the bodies naturally occurring physiological and psychological means of repair, healing and recovery.
Recent peer reviewed studies have shown that Mind Body practices like QiGong promote neuroplasticity, keeping our brains healthy as we age.

A Mind that is a sponge allows us to live a long and full life, stress and worry free, helping the practitioner to live in the now.

WaiDanGong is the external practice involving slow graceful meditation aligning breath with movement, poses and martial exercises.

External QiGong has two different styles hard, and soft.

With the soft element, this include gentle graceful meditative movements, and full flowing movements.

Soft Style QiGong is slow and graceful designed to optimize flexibility, coordination, balance, and internal processes that regulate homeostasis. However in order to receive the maximum benefit from soft style, we must balance and practice hard style.

Hard style QiGong has different levels of intensity varying on our level of conditioning, in the form of circuit training, Hard style practice is the balance to the the soft
QiGong exercises are designed to give the practitioner gains in strength, endurance, stamina, flexibility, coordination, explosiveness.

QiGong practice incorporates many forms of meditation to help with relaxation, stress, focus, awareness, concentration, focus, relaxation.

During the practice of QiGong

First off, The body is sent into healing mode, stimulating our bodies endocrine, lymphatic, and nervous systems. Moreover, the subconscious mind sends signals throughout the body to lower blood pressure, filter toxins, stimulate the immune system, and stilling the mind.

The bodies systems ultimately regulate everything going on within, from our blood Ph to temperature.

In order to maintain homeostasis, you must maintain a clean diet, with four Aerobic Sessions of exercise. and Anaerobic sessions of activity every single week. QiGong is efficient as it saves you time at the gym, One 25 to 45 minutes session trains all five elements of fitness

You are a culmination of actions, and thoughts. You must also learn to control your mind and think positively. Meditation is the answer.

QiGong has meditation, physical practice, as well as breathwork exercises to offer for all around mind body health.
